Man Shot Wife At Sarasota Home: Sheriff

SARASOTA, FL — A man was arrested after shooting his wife Monday morning at their Sarasota home, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a reported battery involving a man and a woman in the 4500 block of Ottawa Trail just after 10 a.m., the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.

When they arrived, they found the victim, a woman, had been shot and was conscious.

A rifle was found on the ground in the outside parking area, the sheriff’s office said.

Her husband, the suspect in the shooting, was detained at the scene.

She was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
