National Sandwich Brand Continues FL Expansion With New Location

A national sandwich brand that announced its expansion in FL in recent years opened its first Sarasota-area shop last month.

SARASOTA, FL — National sandwich chain Potbelly opened its first shop in the Sarasota area last month.

The brand is known for toasted sandwiches, signature salads, hand-shipped shakes and freshly baked cookies.

The new location is at 1635 S. Tamiami Trail, across from Sarasota Memorial Hospital and next to Buffalo Wild Wings in the space that previously housed Tijuana Flats, the Business Observer reported.

“Having operated multiple shops across Central Ohio, we were excited for the opportunity to open in Southwest Florida,” he said. “With its location near Sarasota’s waterfront neighborhoods and busy residential areas, we believe the new shop on Tamiami Trail will become a cherished mealtime destination.”

Potbelly announced its expansion in Florida in 2023, sharing plans to open about 50 locations throughout the state, NRN.com reported.

The company said it was focusing on six regions in the Sunshine State: Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers, Broward County, Gainesville and Panama City.

“Florida as a whole holds immense promise for Potbelly, and we are strategically expanding in the Sunshine State to reach our potential,” said Lynette McKee, senior vice president of franchising at Potbelly. “With experienced franchise groups ready to showcase the Potbelly difference, I have no doubt that we will continue to grow our loyal customer base as we bring our brand to new regions across the state.”
