Outdoor After-School Activities Canceled In Sarasota County: District

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — All outdoor after-school activities and events are canceled Tuesday in Sarasota County as a strong low-pressure storm system moves into Florida.

The decision was made “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a news release from Sarasota County Schools.

The worst of the weather — possibly heavy rains, strong winds, tornadoes and hail — will affect the greater Tampa Bay area Tuesday afternoon into the evening and overnight and will likely cause flooding along the coast, according to the National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office.

No other changes to Sarasota County Schools’ operations are anticipated and all schools will remain open, the district said.
