Sandbags Available To Sarasota County Residents
As Floridians eye the development of Tropical Storm Ian, Sarasota County is offering sandbags to residents.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — With all eyes on Tropical Storm Ian, as Floridians wait to see exactly where it might land in the Sunshine State, the Sarasota County government is making sandbags available to residents.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has already declared a state of emergency for 24 counties in the path of the storm. Early reports show that it could develop into a major Category 3 hurricane.
Sandbag operations will be available for Sarasota County residents on Sunday, noon to 6 p.m., and Monday, at the following locations:

- Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota
- Ed Smith Stadium, 2700 12th Street, Sarasota
- South County Fleet Services, 4571 State Road 776/Englewood Road, Venice
Residents are limited to 10 bags per vehicle.
