Suspect Identified In Sarasota Burglary

Sarasota Police are asking for help finding a man accused of breaking into a home and burglarizing it while is occupants slept.

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department is asking for help locating a man its detectives say is responsible for an April home burglary. According to the agency, the home’s occupants were asleep during the crime.

The incident that has led to a search for Devon Evans, 27, unfolded in the early morning hours of April 24. Police say a person forced entry into a home in the 1000 block of Cocoanut Avenue and took items of value. The victims were not injured during the burglary, the agency noted in a Friday email to media.

Evans was announced as a suspect in the case on May 5. Detectives have not said how he was connected with the crime.

Anyone with information about Evans’ whereabouts is asked to call Det. Anthony DeFrancisco at 941-954-7049. Tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS or by going online to www.sarasotacrimestoppers.com.

Evans, police say, is known to frequent the area of 11th Street and Cocoanut Avenue.
