Woman Killed When Car Strikes Sarasota County Home
A 40-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning when she lost control of her Toyota Camry and crashed into a home.

SARASOTA, FL — A 40-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning when she lost control of her Toyota Camry and crashed into a Sarasota County home in the 400 block of Briarwood Road. The crash occurred around 1:35 p.m. near Dagon Road, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Florida troopers said that alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash that took the life of Glendy S. Calderon of Venice. She was alone in the car.

Calderon's car was traveling eastbound on Briarwood Road when "for unknown reasons" she drove off the road and struck a mailbox and then collided with five reflective road markers before striking another mailbox and finally the home.
"There were tire marks found in the roadway and furrow marks found in the grass," according to Florida Highway Patrol.
