Gordito's, Everglazed Chicken & Donuts Added To Sparkman Wharf Lineup

These additions by Chefs Ferrell Alvarez and Joe Isidori are already foodie pleasers.

TAMPA, FL — Sparkman Wharf's shipping container food hall at 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa, has some new offerings by popular chefs that Tampa foodies are going to love.

The Proper House Group has a new offering at the waterfront plaza, Sparkman Wharf. Chef Ferrell Alvarez of Proper House Group, with partners Chon Nguyen and Ty Rodriguez, has opened Gordito's, specializing in empanadas and shaved ice.

From Latin-style beef, mojo pork and chicken empanadas to fresh vegetarian options, including sweet plantain, guava and cream, and spinach and cheese empanadas, the menu presents a diverse selection, all accompanied by homemade sauces including charred jalapeno ranch, chimichurri, cumin crema and mango chutney.

In addition, Gordito's offers shaved ice with a unique twist, infusing it with Asian-style finesse and incorporating fresh fruits, homemade coconut milk whipped cream and even bursting boba.

Menu prices range from $3.50 to $13.

"Gordito's transcends the ordinary — it's a fusion of Latin and Asian-inspired culinary creations. Our diverse menu caters to all ages, with an array of empanadas and shaved ice that effortlessly blend the essence of Bingsu, Taiwanese, Kakigori and raspados," said Alverez. “We take pride in introducing fresh, locally sourced creations with a modern twist which creates our unique PHG experience.”

Gordito’s is Proper House Group’s fifth endeavor in the Water Street Tampa neighborhood joining two other Sparkman Wharf restaurants: Gallito Taqueria and Dang Dude, as well as Alter Ego cocktail lounge and the Italian-inspired restaurant Ash, both set to open in 2024.

Tampa-based Proper House Group is also behind the acclaimed restaurant Rooster & the Till, a 2022 and 2023 Michelin Bib Gourmand Award recipient, and Nebraska Mini Mart in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood.

From the imagination of Michelin Star Chef Joe Isidori comes chicken dishes like hot honey garlic tenders and chicken poppers with dipping sauce and crinkle-cut fries.

Additionally, Everglazed offers everything from simple glazed doughnuts to doughnuts piled high with cookies and whipped cream and peanut butter explosion.

"They're the best doughnuts in the world because they're made by us with love and passion and everything you can imagine," said Isidori.

To wash it all down, Everglazed offers cold brews.

These new eateries join Sparkman Wharf's existing lineup including Fit Bowl Co., Gallito Taqueria, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, Jotoro, LightHaus Beer Garden, Noble Rice, Whatever Pops, Edison's Swigamajig, BurgerFi, Shortwave Coffee, Battery, Dang Dude, Half Moon Seafood and JoDog, along with its Splitsville restaurant.
