Hurricane Ian Evacuation: Uber Offering Free Rides To Shelters

Uber's offer is open to Tampa-area residents who need a ride to any state-approved evacuation shelter.

TAMPA, FL — Ride-share company Uber is offering Tampa-area residents free rides to state-approved evacuation shelters ahead of Hurricane Ian's arrival, according to multiple reports.

Uber's offer is good for free round-trip rides, up to $30 each way, FOX 13 reported.

To redeem the offer, Uber users should do the following:

  1. Open your app
  2. Tap "Account" on the bottom right of your screen
  3. Tap "Wallet"
  4. Scroll down to "Add Promo Code"
  5. Enter code IANRELIEF
  6. Select any Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee or Pasco County evacuation shelter listed at floridadisaster.org/planprepare/shelters.

According to reports, the offer is valid for up to two trips per rider. Rides must be requested to or from any state-approved evacuation shelter in Florida.

In all, there are 49 shelters in the Tampa area for evacuees, WTSP reported. Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority will also give free rides to the shelters.
