Hurricane Ian: Governor, Counties To Announce Preparation Plans
Gov. Ron DeSantis will host a news conference at 11 a.m. Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will have live updates on preparations at 10 a.m

FLORIDA — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Monday at 11 a.m. at the Florida Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee to provide an update on state preparations for Hurricane Ian.
Joining him will be Florida Disaster Emergency Manager Kevin Guthrie and Maj. Gen. James O. Eifert, adjutant general of the Florida National Guard.
The news conference will be broadcast live on local television stations.

In addition to activating the state's emergency operations center at 2555 Shumard Oak Blvd. in Tallahassee, counties along the west coast have activated their emergency operations centers and information lines.
Pinellas County officials will provide an update on Hurricane Ian at 10 a.m. at the Pinellas County Public Safety Complex, 10750 Ulmerton Road, Largo.

Officials on hand will include Pinellas County Administrator Barry Burton, Emergency Management Director Cathie Perkins, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Board of County Commissioners Chairman Charlie Justice and St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth Welch.
The news conference will be streamed on the county’s YouTube channel.
Hillsborough County has also scheduled an update at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hillsborough Public Safety Operations Complex, 9450 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, to discuss evacuation plans.
There will be a briefing from County Administrator Bonnie Wise, Hillsborough County Office of Emergency Management Director Timothy Dudley, and other elected officials.
