Missing Tampa Man Found, Deputies Say

A Tampa man with a serious medical condition went missing on his way to Clearwater Tuesday.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says a man who went missing on his way to Clearwater Tuesday has been located.

Earlier: According to the agency, Jose Luis Gonzalez, 64, left his Maybury Court home in Tampa Tuesday, Jan. 3 to go to Lincoln Land in Clearwater.

“He called his wife at 3 p.m., stating he was lost and not feeling well,” an email from the sheriff’s office said. “Telephone contact was last made at 8:15 p.m., but there was no conversation, only breathing and tapping noises could be heard.”

Deputies say Gonzalez was driving a tan 2008 Chevrolet van with the Florida tag number Z6LAH on it.

“Gonzalez is a double leg amputee and is a diabetic that takes insulin,” the email added.
