Following A 6-Hour Intersection Closure At 5th Ave N Due To Fatal Crash, Lanes Reopened

A fatal crash occurred Sunday in St. Petersburg at a heavily traveled intersection along Fifth Ave N. Lanes were closed for about 6 hours.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - The intersection of Fifth Avenue North and 49th Street North reopened Sunday at about 5 p.m. following a late morning fatal crash, according to St. Pete police.

Drivers can expect delays in both directions of Fifth Avenue North in St. Petersburg due to a fatal Sunday crash that occurred late morning, Yolanda Fernandez, spokesperson of St. Pete Police Department said.

One man died from injuries in the crash on Fifth Avenue North at 49th Street North and two others were injured, according to traffic homicide. Traffic is being diverted into side neighborhoods. Expect for the road to be closed for a few hours due to the investigation.
