2 Men Face Attempted Murder Charges: St. Pete Police

The suspects fired several shots at a man getting out of a vehicle on 14th Avenue N. on Wednesday afternoon, St. Pete police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two men face attempted murder charges after shooting at a man getting out of a vehicle on 14th Avenue N. on Wednesday afternoon, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

Officers responded to reports of shots heard in the 2200 block just before 5 p.m.

Two men, later identified as Keon Dawson, 30, and Raymond Adams, 36, approached the victim as he was leaving his vehicle, police said.

They fired several shots at him and then ran back to their car, a black Nissan Altima with no tag, and drove away. While bullets hit the victim’s car, there were no injuries.

Officers spotted the fleeing Altima and tried to pull it over. The car didn’t stop and led police on a chase.

The car eventually stopped at 5th Avenue North and 40th Street North. The two men got out and ran from the car, but a K9 team quickly arrested them, police said.

Dawson and Adams were taken into custody and face numerous charges, including attempted first-degree murder.

Officers found an assault rifle in the backseat and a handgun nearby.

The suspects and the victim are known to each other and had been in a dispute, police said.
