5 Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 14

Taco Bus opens today. Spring training starts this week for Major League Ball teams. And, of course, it's Valentine's Day.

1.) V-Day may feel like D-Day for lovers who are procrastinators. Instead of picking up a bouquet in a plastic sleeve at the grocery store, head over to a local craft shop or gallery for a one-of-a-kind gift. Craftsman House Gallery, at 2955 Central Ave., is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Shapiro's, on Beach Drive, has jewely, art and glass work.

2.) It's going to be a nice day... sunny with highs in the 60s. But pack a jacket for the commute home, especially if you plan to be out late to take your Valentine to dinner. Temps are expected to drop down into the 40s in Pinellas, 30s farther north.

3.) Many restaurants are making Valentine's Day a special day for customers. Carraba's, which is usually just open for dinner on Mondays, will welcome folks for lunch, starting at noon. Queens Head, usually closed on Mondays, will open on Feb. 14 for a themed-Valentine dinner.

4.) The long-awaited opening of Taco Bus St. Pete takes place today at 11 a.m. Taco Bus II will serve the same authentic Mexican food that has made the Tampa Taco Bus a favorite with customers. The new Taco Bus is at 2324 Central Ave.

5.) It's time for spring baseball: The Tampa Bay Rays begin spring training this week down in Port Charlotte, with pitchers and catchers officially reporting Wednesday and the rest of the team on Monday Feb. 21. But they'll all be at the Trop on Saturday for the .
