Man Dies Of Injuries In FedEx Collision Near 71st Street North
A man from the United Kingdom rode his bike Tuesday night when he was struck by a truck in Pinellas County. Lights were not on his bike.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 54-year-old man died Tuesday night when a FedEx truck hit him as he rode his bicycle in a St. Petersburg neighborhood, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 25-year-old St. Pete FedEx driver drove northbound on 71st Street North near 50th Avenue North as the bicyclist traveled in front of him without lights at about 7:19 p.m. Another vehicle drove southbound on 71st Street North at the same time, investigators said.
Troopers said the FedEx driver was aware of the bicyclist and when he tried to avoid hitting him, the truck spun along the wet road and hit the bicyclist. Following the collision with the bike, the truck continued to spin and crashed into another vehicle.

The bicyclist died at a local hospital early Wednesday morning, troopers said.
None of the other drivers were injured, according to detectives.
