Victim Killed On Christmas Day In St. Pete Hit-And-Run, Drivers Still At Large: Police
Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying two vehicles that hit and killed a victim on 18th Avenue South Saturday night.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Detectives have asked the public's help in identifying two drivers involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in St. Petersburg on Christmas Day.
According to St. Pete police, a 56-year-old man stepped off the curb on the sidewalk of 18th Avenue South to cross the street in the 1900 block at 7:10 p.m. when a blue Kia car and a gray car of an unknown make drove westbound on 18th Avenue South. The Kia struck the victim first followed by grey car hitting him again after he was already lying in the roadway, deputies said.
Both cars immediately drove away, investigators said. A medical examiner pronounced the victim dead at the location where the crash occurred. Authorities closed the road for three hours for the investigation.

The victim's name will be released after his next of kin is notified, officers said.
