City Councilor Tapped as Celebrity Chef for a Day at Grand Central Restaurant
Councilor Jeff Danner will prepare an unusual brunch item: Peanut Butter French Toast.

Grand Central Perc, a new restaurant/coffee shop in the Grand Central District, is hosting St. Petersburg City Councilor Jeff Danner as Celebrity Chef this Sunday at 2444 Central Ave.
Each Sunday, the restaurant welcomes a different local celebrity to serve as guest chef. Danner announced at Thursday's City Council meeting that he will be cooking Peanut Butter French Toast, combining a couple of old-fashioned favorites, at least with the under-12 set.
Perc, which bills itself as a "coffee and tea company," also offers breakfast sandwiches, croissants, bagels. Its lunch-time sandwiches include ham and swiss, turkey breast and egg salad. It has homemade creamy tomato basil soup, the ultimate comfort food for a chilly day. The management describes its selection of soups good enough to "put grandma to shame."

The restaurant/coffee shop has an open invitation for people to work as chef for the day: "We offer up our kitchen, staff and customers to you and allow you to create the signature dish for that day's brunch. We purchase your ingredients, do your shopping, assist with preparations and even wash the dishes when you’re done… How simple is that?"
