Cobham to Cut 160 Jobs at St. Petersburg Plant

The British defense and commercial contractor is moving 120 of the jobs to Iowa and New York, TBO.com reports.

Defense and commercial contractor Cobham is cutting 160 jobs at its St. Petersburg manufacturing plant, TBO.com reports.

The British company will move 120 of the jobs to plants it owns in Iowa and New York, TBO reports.

"The problem is not only is it 160 jobs," St. Petersburg Council Chairman Karl Nurse told TBO. "It's 160 good jobs."

Cobham specializes in "meeting the demand for data, connectivity and bandwidth in (defense), security and commercial environments," according to its website. It employs more than 10,000 people on five continents.
