ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A gas skimmer was found on a 7-Eleven gas pump Monday in St. Petersburg, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Investigators said a small skimmer was placed on pump no. six at 11590 Fourth Street N probably around three weeks ago. If you have gotten gas at this 7-Eleven location during this time frame, check for suspicious charges on your account.

If you discover funds from your account have been taken that you didn't authorize, contact your bank and the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780.

Customers can avoid being victims of skimmers by paying for gas inside a store, and by frequently checking their bank accounts for fraudulent charges, detectives said.
