Deputy Kills Man Holding Knife in Lealman: Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
Responding to a report of a disturbance, a deputy fired several shots at the man, striking him in the upper body.

LEALMAN, FL -- A deputy shot and killed a man holding a knife Wednesday afternoon in Lealman, according to Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. No deputies were injured.
William J. Beavers, 43, of 4280 Mallory Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot several times in the upper body.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a domestic call at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday at the Duval Park apartments where Beavers lived.

A neighbor had reported a fight between Beavers and Megan Anderson, 36. Deputies arrived to find Anderson had taken refuge at the neighbor's house with two children, ages 10 and 12.
Anderson told deputies that Beavers had been violent, was intoxicated and would be uncooperative, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

When deputies knocked, Beavers answered the door and approached the deputies with a knife raised over his shoulder, according to the sheriff's office.
As one deputy retreated, the second told Beavers to drop the knife several times, but the man refused.
Deputy Tyler Green, with the force since 2013, fired multiple shots, striking Beavers in the upper body. Green has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
