DUI Manslaughter Charges Filed In Deadly St. Pete Crash: Troopers

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 42-year-old St. Petersburg man has been arrested on multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, in a deadly multiple-car crash Thursday on Interstate-275, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Four cars were stopped on the interstate due to traffic near mile marker 28 after 6 p.m., investigators said.

Two cars were in the center lane and two were in the outside lane when the suspect, Bryant Haney kept driving and collided his SUV into the back of a 37-year-old man's car, which caused a chain reaction, troopers said.

The 37-year-old was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, detectives said.

Southbound lanes were closed until 10:45 p.m. for the investigation.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Haney faces the following charges:

  • DUI manslaughter
  • Driving while license suspended and revoked involving a death
