Looking for some laid-back fun and good music tonight? The Blue Island Beer Club is a pair of musicians -- Colin Ward and Bruce Kula -- who evoke the good-time lifestyle of Florida in their music. The musicians say the name of their group speaks to some of the things in life they enjoy most... and they're still waiting for Keys crooner Jimmy Buffett to cover one of their songs. They call their blend of music Subtropical Blues. "What does that mean? Well, you've got to hear it to understand," the guys say. Their songs have been described on music websites as "acoustic tropi-pop."
Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m., at the Hideaway Cafe, for a celebration of their new CD, Have You a Taste. Regina Aamacha will open the show. Mark Sweat, Doug Wilcox and Greg Sabol will be among the special musical guests in what is being billed as a special night at the Hideaway, 1756 Central Ave. Admission is $10, $15 for couples. CD comes with the ticket to the show.
