A benefit for St. Vincent de Paul’s Soup Kitchen featuring student art takes place Thursday, May 12, at Sawgrass Lake Elementary, 1815 77th Ave. N, St. Petersburg, from 5:30-8 p.m.
Inspired by a visit to the St. Vincent de Paul’s Soup Kitchen in St. Petersburg, the Sawgrass Lake Elementary Student Multicultural Committee wanted to raise awareness of the struggles that many of their community members face on a daily basis.
They chose the "Empty Bowls Project." Hundreds of ceramic bowls were handmade by children throughout the school, and will be offered for donation, along with a humble meal of soup and bread, to remind us of all the “Empty Bowls” in our world.
