Firefighters Will Be Washing Cars In St. Pete Saturday...Need We Say More?

A car wash fundraiser is set for Saturday so kids whose parents can't afford lessons can learn to swim for free at a St. Pete city pool.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg firefighters and lifeguards will host a car wash fundraiser Saturday that will help qualifying children take free swim lessons, a news release said.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, drowning is the leading cause of injury death in U.S. children 1 to 4 years of age and the third leading cause of unintentional injury death among U.S. children and adolescents 5 to 19 years of age, St. Pete Parks & Recreation reported.

One hundred percent of the donations at the car wash will go toward free swim lessons to children in need at any city of St. Petersburg pool, Parks & Rec said.
