Five Things You Need to Know Today

The big news is that Gov. Rick Scott will be in town today to address the St. Pete area Chamber of Commerce.

1.) at the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting, which gets under way at 11:30 a.m. at the Trop. The governor also will stop in at Progress Energy in downtown St. Pete.

2.) USF St. Petersburg will hold a vigil for the fallen officers killed last week in the line of duty. The candlelight ceremony takes place at 6:30 p.m. at Harborwalk on the USFSP campus.

3.) The St. Pete City Council holds one of its regular meetings early today, at 8:30 a.m. It is televised live on cable access and via live streaming on the Internet.

4.) Gratzi is back! The Italian ristorante is now in downtown St. Pete, at 199 2nd Ave. North.

5.) Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association meets at 7 p.m., at the Hospice Center, 3050 1st Ave. South.
