Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 13

Ferg's fund raiser for the St. Petersburg police officers killed in the line of duty is Sunday afternoon, and is expected to be one of the bigger, more heartfelt community benefits for their families.

1.) City Councilor Jeff Danner plays celebrity chef Sunday morning at Perc, 2444 Central Ave., in the Grand Central District. Danner's specialty is Peanut Butter French Toast. There's also gourmet coffees, teas, danish, bagels. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

2.) Ferg's fund raiser for the fallen police officers may be one of the larger benefits for the families of Thomas Baitinger and Jeffrey Yaslowitz, killed in the line of duty Jan. 24. It takes place from noon to 6 p.m. at Ferg's Sports Bar. Expect live music, kegs and outdoor concert.

3.) Kids Preserving the Past and Planning for the Future is the title of a special kids' activity at St. Petersburg's Museum of History, located on the access road to the city Pier. From 3-5 p.m., there also will be a reception and panel discussion on architectural preservation to kick off the Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association's museum exhibit.

4.) American Stage presents "I am a Cuban Sandwich: Love Letters to Ybor," about growing up in an immigrant community in Tampa. The show is pay-as-you-can, with a $5-$15 suggested donation. Curtain time is 8 p.m.; 163 3rd St. North. 

5.) Shamanism for the New Millennium workshop, 4:30-7:30 p.m., is at the Wings Book Store, 4500 4th St. North. The New Age seminar focuses on healing after trauma, releasing negative attachments and awakening your inner shaman, even if you didn't know you had one. Tickets are $25.
