Free Jannus Concert Draws a Crowd
Whenever Jannus hosts a free event, foot traffic and music lovers file in to pack the house in St. Petersburg. Downtown was packed.
It is a well known fact that Jannus Live is dedicated to St. Pete's local music scene. With artists to boot and a growing desire from the community for new bands, the venue tends to hold free events every so often.
Friday night was no exception. A lineup of local talent brought in hundreds to the outdoor music venue. The acts included Tyson Marshall of Offshore Riot, Common Ground and headliner The Hip Abduction.
Although there were a few different artists set to take the stage, they all have one thing in common: sound. Each of the bands falls into a reggae/rock genre that locals seem to be drawn to.

Maybe it's the beach bum culture or the overall laid back salt life, but either way- it is very evident that the community loves island music.

- Tyson Marshall- Offshore Riot is Marshall's main squeeze as far as music goes, but he also performs solo. He mixes original tunes with hip hop hits, creating a unique sound that only Marshall can offer.
- Common Ground- The fivesome hails from Fort Myers and although they're a young bunch, their dedication is apparent on and off the stage. After releasing their first 5-track EP in May, Common Ground is moving forward steadily with catchy reggae tunes and attitude to match.
- The Hip Abduction- Headlining act, The Hip Abduction, is no stranger to the Jannus Live Courtyard. The crew of nine musicians taps into the world of instruments for a well rounded, funky reggae vibe.
