Girl, 3, Seriously Injured In St. Pete Crash

Two people, including a toddler who wasn't restrained, were seriously injured in a Wednesday crash in St. Pete, troopers say.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 3-year-old girl who wasn’t properly restrained was among those injured when two cars collided on 54th Avenue North Wednesday morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both drivers involved in the wreck were cited.

The incident began to unfold around 10 a.m. June 21 when troopers say Tam Thanh Phan, 23, of St. Petersburg was stopped facing south on 33rd Street North at the intersection of 54th Avenue North. At that time, Alyssa Nicole Driver, 22, of Pinellas Park was heading west on 54th Avenue North in the left lane in a Hyundai Elantra.

Phan made a left turn that brought her Hyundai Sonata into the path of the oncoming Elantra, the report said. The front of Driver’s car struck the left side of Phan’s. After the impact, Driver’s car kept going south, crossed the eastbound lanes of 54th Avenue North and hit a curb and power pole, the report said.
