Marion County Homicide Suspect Arrested in St. Pete
Lamar Maddox, 39, has been charged with 2nd degree murder.

A Marion County man wanted for the death of another man in Marion County has been found in St. Petersburg taken into custody by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, according to a report by Bay News 9.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a verbal altercation between Brandon Simmons and Maddox turned deadly when Maddox allegedly pulled a handgun and shot Simmons multiple times.

Authorities said witnesses chased Maddox but lost him in a wooded area near the scene of the crime at 17025 SE 249 Terrance in Umatilla, FL.
Simmons, Marion deputies said, was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Maddox was found in St. Petersburg by Pinellas County SWAT team members, according to Bay News 9.
