Show the Love and Meet Rays Players Saturday, Feb. 19, at Annual Fan Fest

Preview of annual Rays Fan Fest Saturday at the Trop. Admission is free, and there will be plenty to do, while raising money to benefit several key charities.

ST. PETERSBURG - A great way to get psyched for the upcoming Major League Baseball season is the annual Rays Fan Fest, which is Saturday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Tropicana Field in downtown St. Petersburg.

The lineup includes autograph sessions with the players, clubhouse tours, Manager Joe Madden's spaghetti and meatballs. You can even have a Rays player call a friend or family member.

Admission and parking are free, as are most activities for kids. But adults who want to indulge their inner kid must agree to donate to the designated charities: the fund for the St. Petersburg fallen officers, ALS and the Rays Baseball Foundation.

For example, player autographs are free to kids under 14 and season ticket holders, but adults have to have a wristband that is only available with a $40 donation.

But everyone -- donation or no donation -- still gets to walk on the new Astroturf, run around the bases, take a clubhouse tour, and try out the batting cages and the radar gun.

The Rays Fan Fest takes place at Tropicana Field, beginning at 10 a.m., but it fills up fast. So remember to get there early enough to get a spot and join the fun.
