Pedestrian Dies In Pinellas Hit-And-Run Crash

The incident was the second fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Pinellas County on Wednesday.

ST PETERSBURG, FL - A 38-year-old St. Petersburg man was walking along 54th Avenue N when he was struck by two vehicles Wednesday night and later died at a local hospital from his injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The driver of the first vehicle to hit the pedestrian sped away.

The pedestrian was identified as Levi Brodie Forsyth, 38, of St. Petersburg. The incident was the second fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Pinellas County on Wednesday.

Authorities are searching for the driver a SUV that left the scene. The hit-and-run crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday as the driver of the SUV was traveling eastbound on 54th Avenue North in the inside lane approaching Haines Road. A second vehicle was traveling eastbound on 54th Avenue North in the outside lane.

Forsyth was walking in the travel lane on 54th Street when he as struck by the SUV, FHP said. The impact of the crash propelled the man into a Ford Edge driven by Heather Ann Campbell, 33 of St. Petersburg. Campbell stopped at the scene while the driver of the first vehicle fled, FHP said.

Authorities are searching for a vehicle described as a small- to mid-size red or gold SUV-type vehicle, similar to a Ford Edge. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the FHP by calling *FHP or Crime Stoppers.
