Pinellas County Suburbs Rank Among Florida’s Safest
Pinellas County suburbs are strongly represented in a ranking of Florida's safest suburbs, but Hillsborough County isn't with a mention.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — The Tampa Bay area is well represented in a new ranking report released by Niche.com that names the 2017 Safest Suburbs in Florida. While first-place honors didn’t go to a community in the region, dozens of towns in the area are on the list of 100.
Niche is a website that’s dedicated to helping people explore schools and neighborhoods across the country. The website’s number crunchers “rigorously analyze dozens of public data sets and millions of reviews to produce comprehensive rankings, report cards, and profiles for every K-12 school, college, and neighborhood in the U.S.”
To rank Florida’s safest suburbs for 2017, Niche’s team looked a crime rates related to murders, assaults, rapes and burglaries, among other things. Data pulled to compile the rankings came from the FBI and the U.S. Census.

The top two safest suburbs in Florida, according to Niche, are the Miami area’s South Palm Beach and Orlando’s Windermere. Pinellas County’s Indian Shores earned third-place honors.
