ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Poynter Institute will present its Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism to "60 Minutes" longtime reporter, Lesley Stahl, at its virtual Celebration of Journalism in November, a news release said.

Stahl has covered groundbreaking stories from health care and climate change to Watergate and the Jan. 6 insurrection, Poynter said. She has had America's most-watched Sunday TV program, "60 Minutes," for 30 seasons. Other awards earned by Stahl includes 15 Emmys with one for Lifetime Achievement, the Edward R. Murrow Award, the Founders Award for Journalistic Excellence from the International Center for Journalists and the Alfred I. duPont—Columbia University Silver Baton, according to Poynter.

She has been a reporter for more than five decades spending most of her career at CBS News. "Prior to joining '60 Minutes' in 1991, she worked as a CBS News White House correspondent during the Carter and Reagan presidencies and the first half of George H. W. Bush's presidency," Poynter reported. She has interviewed well — known leaders from around the world such as Margaret Thatcher, Yasser Arafat, Boris Yeltsin and top U.S. officials.
