Rain, Thunder Storms Move Into Tampa Bay Area

Expect rain late this afternoon and into this evening. Skies will clear Tuesday.

ST. PETERSBURG - Rain this afternoon will be followed by more rain tonight. But skies should clear by morning.

A storm system is moving into the Tampa Bay region late this afternoon, bringing more showers and a chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Ruskin.

A warning has been issued to Pinellas, Hillsborough and other counties to expect wind gusts, scattered showers and thunder. The thunderstorms will extend into the Gulf of Mexico.

South-southwest winds will be around 17 mph, with gusts reaching 24 mph. Chance of rain is 60 percent late this afternoon.

Chance of rain will continue into this evening. The lows will be in the lower 50s near the coast and in the upper 40s inland. West winds 10 to 15 mph will become northwest after midnight.

Tonight, wind gusts may reach 30 mph and the chance of rain will be 30 percent.
