Sex Offender Arrested for Lewd Act at Kmart

A registered sex offender was arrested Monday, after he allegedly exposed himself to children inside a Kmart store.

Kenneth City Police arrested John Connaughton, 38, of St. Petersburg.

Police were dispatched to the Kmart located at 4501 66th Street North, in reference to a lewd/Lascivious Act.

Upon arrival Officer's spoke to the victims, which included two young children about the incident. Police said Connaughton, of 1666 30th Ave. N, had exposed himself to the victims while inside the store.

Connaughton, police said, had left the store prior to police arriving; however he was located a short time later and arrested without incident by Kenneth City Police.
