The public is invited to join Mayor Bill Foster, bicyclists, walkers, runners and neighbors for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Skyway Extension of the Clam Bayou City Trail on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m.
Guests are asked to gather on the trail behind the CVS store at 37th St. and 54th Ave S. Vehicles may park in the CVS parking lot to the rear of the store.
The Skyway Trail is a regional trail facility that is similar to the Pinellas Trail. Sections further to the north were completed in 2012. It connects to the Pinellas Trail, traversing through Childs Park then continues to the south through the new Clam Bayou Nature Preserve, with many sections built on scenic boardwalk-like bridges. The preserve area is already home to many birds, fish, and manatees.
