First – and Last – Snow of the Season
North Straub Park was packed with people and freshly made snow for a December tradition in downtown St. Petersburg.
What do you get when you combine 65 tons of snow and a tropical climate of downtown St. Pete? The answer is simple: Snowfest.
The event was held in North Straub Park, where families came to roll snowballs and ride down a toboggan slide of real snow. Kids enjoyed the fun of bounce houses and a rock climbing wall, too.
Workers did their best to keep the snow from melting, shoveling every few minutes and packing it together. For some little ones, Snowfest was their first taste of real snow. Sloshing around in the icy mix brought smiles to their faces and gave a boost of holiday spirit to the community.
