A Disease That Is Very Hard to Diagnose

Tonight Vintage Ultra Lounge hosts a purple-infused event to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer.

Brendan McDowell lost his father, Timothy, 11 years ago to pancreatic cancer. At first, Timothy was originally diagnosed with depression as the symptoms can be hard to detect.

Eventually a CT scan revealed that Timothy McDowell had advanced pancreatic cancer.

Timothy left behind a wife and two sons. Brendan McDowell says he was an advocate instantly. He strives to bring awareness to the community, considering the disease itself is very hard to diagnose.

"Knowledge is one of the most powerful weapons we have" Brendan said.

Timothy McDowell arrived on St. Pete soil in 1990 where he became an active member of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce. He was an entrepreneur to the core and passed on the talent to his sons.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and purple is the color of the representative ribbon. Friday night, in downtown St. Pete, the life of Timothy McDowell is not forgotten as Brendan hosts the Fourth Annual Purple Event at Vintage Ultra Lounge.

Guests arrived on the infamous purple carpet and get their picture taken by the paparazzi.

There's still time. Wear purple and enjoy an open bar from 9-10 pm and complimentary hors d'oeuvre from the Garden Restaurant.
