Deputies Investigating St. Pete Fatal Shooting In Vacant Lot

Detectives have begun looking into what led up to the death of a St. Petersburg man Wednesday morning after he had been killed.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Detectives with St. Petersburg police have begun an investigation in a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday morning at a vacant lot on 17th Avenue South, a St. Pete police news release said.

Forty-seven-year-old Qareeb Muhammad had been fatally injured by gunfire, and was lying in a field located in the 2100 block of 17th Avenue South just after 9:33 a.m., investigators said. Officials took him to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where medical staff pronounced him dead.
