Victim Fell Off Scooter In Front Of Car That Fatally Hit Him Then Drove Away: Troopers
The Florida Highway Patrol has begun investigating a traffic homicide case after the driver of the car who hit the victim drove away.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A vehicle that hit and killed a 23-year-old St. Petersburg man early Sunday morning on 66th Street immediately left the crash location afterward, Florida Highway Patrol said.
A 23-year-old man who rode an electric scooter fell off the device when he tried to drive over a raised concrete median that divided 66th Street near 51st Avenue North, troopers said.
An unknown type vehicle hit him when he fell into the inside southbound lane of 66th Street at 3:30 a.m., and then kept driving. Medical officials pronounced the victim dead at the crash location, according to investigators.
