Up next for the pier is a June 5 demolition hearing at the Southwest Florida Water Management District. During that hearing, the public will be granted time to speak on the pending demolition, which is tentatively set for August.
The Aug. 27 primary marks the date when the public is expected to get a say on the proposed design to replace the pier. On that day, residents will vote on the city’s contract with Michael Maltzan Architecture to build "Lens" pier design.
