ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 14-year-old student was arrested Wednesday night on charges threatening a mass shooting at Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives said the student posted the threats on an anonymous Instagram account Wednesday evening. One post showed an AK-47 assault rifle with the caption, "What Up Dixie," and the hashtag #bullseye. The second post was a photo of the font of Hollins High School with the caption, "Wouldn't go to school tomorrow." The third post had two AR-15-style rifles with the caption, "Can't wait to use those."
Investigators said they worked with the social media platform to obtain the phone number that created the anonymous account, and it led them to the suspect.
