Soprano artist Erika Van Gorden performed atop the spiral staircase at the Dali for an operatic and dramatic production.
The Dali Museum is giving a boost to opera artists with a collaboration uniting the public to local acts. The Dali has teamed up with St. Petersburg College to bring forth an opera performance on the third Thursday of every month.
A different artist is set to perform each week, and Thursday night’s talent was Erika Van Gorden, a second year vocal performance student at St. Petersburg College. Van Gorden has performed as soprano soloist Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in Rome, as well as in a slew of shows with the St. Petersburg Opera Company. Among her many accomplishments, Van Gorden was named number one in voice competition at the 2011 Florida State Music Symposium.
Thursday night’s show was elegant and pleasing to the senses, with Van Gorden performing on the Dali Museum’s spiral staircase.
