Woman Dies In 9-Vehicle Crash On Bay Pines Blvd.: Pinellas Sheriff
A driver suspected of driving under the influence caused a chain-reaction crash involving nine vehicles, Pinellas County sheriff said.

SEMINOLE, FL — A woman was killed in a nine-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bay Pines Boulevard and 100th Way North Tuesday night, according to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Numerous vehicles were stopped for a red light in the eastbound lanes of Bay Pines Boulevard at 100th Way North at the time of the crash, just before 9:30 p.m.
A truck driven by 43-year-old Joshua Kohlbecker, who was speeding, failed to stop at the light and hit a Ford Mustang in front of him, the sheriff’s office said.

This caused a chain reaction and the car moved forward to hit two other vehicles, which were pushed into five additional vehicles stopped at the light.
The initial impact of the truck and the Mustang caused a large fire and both vehicles were immediately engulfed by flames, the sheriff's office said.

An off-duty Polk County Sheriff’s Office sergeant helped Kohlbecker get out of his truck and bystanders helped the Mustang’s driver, 26-year-old Ernie Aganlog, get out of his car.
They were unable to help remove his passenger, Rosario Malicon, 53, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kohlbecker and Agbanlog were brought to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Kohlbecker was arrested and charged with driving under the influence manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and felony driving while license is suspended or revoked causing death.
