Woman Fatally Wounded Outside Her Home

Police are asking the public to share any information that might help to identify a suspect or circumstances in the case.

Police are investigating the shooting of a woman who was found by police in her driveway Friday around 1 a.m.

Karen Gunther, 47, was transported to Bayfront Medical Center, where she died.

Police have not identified a suspect or motive, and are asking the public to share any information that might be useful in the case.

Police were called to her home at 5263 5th Ave. S. by a neighbor who heard shooting. Police said they found Gunther lying in the driveway, with a bullet wound to the upper chest.

Police said that prior to the shooting Gunther had been out with a friend having drinks.

The motive for the shooting is unclear.
