Woman Killed, 7 Injured, Including Children, In Crash: St. Pete Police
A woman was killed and another woman and six kids were injured in a Thursday afternoon crash on Fairfield Ave. S., St. Pete police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — One woman was killed and another woman and six children injured in a Thursday afternoon crash in south St. Petersburg, authorities said.
An SUV, driven by Viola McDuffie, 33, was heading east on Fairfield Avenue South approaching 34th Street when she started speeding toward the intersection around 3:30 p.m., according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.
She had two young children as passengers in her SUV.

McDuffie, while speeding, crashed into another SUV that was also heading east on Fairfield Avenue South and trying to make a turn north onto 34th Street South.
Her SUV rolled and its rear bumper crashed into a power pole on the east side of 34th Street South, police said. McDuffie was pronounced dead on the scene.

The children in her SUV were brought to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
The other driver was brought to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with injuries and is in stable condition.
Four children in that second SUV were also brought to John Hopkins All Children's Hospital, where they’re also in stable condition.
