Worker Dies After Falling Into Water Tank
The worker had been hired to resurface an empty water tank for the city of St. Petersburg.

A worker who fell 30 feet into an empty tank at a St. Petersburg water treatment facility has died from his injuries, according to media reports.
The accident occurred at the city's Northwest Water Treatment Facility and involved a 52-year-old sub-contractor from Spectrum Contracting of Naples. The treatment plant is near Azalea Park.
According to Channel 13, the worker was hired to resurface the water tank, which holds more than 2 million gallons of reclaimed water when it is filled.

"Officials said it appears as though he was not wearing a safety harness while cleaning the tank."
Lt. Joel Granata with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue told Channel 13: "The worker was actually on a scissors platform and he was doing some routine maintenance on one of the walls in the tank."

Granata described his injuries as "unsurvivable trauma injuries."
