• Village of Hawkins resident appointed to Wildwood Commission (villages-news.com) — Wildwood’s city commission has appointed Village of Hawkins resident and retired Army officer David Fountaine to fill Seat 2, following Pamala Harrison-Bivins’ retirement. He’ll be sworn in at the Jan. 12, 2026 meeting and serve through next year, when voters will choose the next commissioner in a general election.
   

• Trial set to begin in '24 murder of Leesburg store owner (insidelake.com) — A man identified as being from Wildwood is set to stand trial this week, accused of fatally shooting a Leesburg convenience store owner during a 2024 robbery. Prosecutors say he fled for nearly a month before being arrested in Kissimmee, and he now faces multiple serious felony charges. The case is drawing regional attention because of its ties to both Wildwood and Leesburg.
