177 Fugitives Arrested In Massive GA Operation

A large-scale federal operation recently netted 177 fugitive arrests throughout Georgia, the FBI Atlanta office said.

The FBI partnered with the U.S. Marshals Service and local authorities for Operation No Escape, where authorities said they spent six weeks targeting people who had "violent criminal warrants" pending against them.

“Here in Georgia, we aren’t standing idly by," FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown said Thursday. "We are addressing violent crime head-on through intelligence and partnerships. We promise to continue our work to disrupt violent crimes, drug organizations and human traffickers whose criminal acts devastate families and communities.”

Arrests took place across 58 jurisdictions in Georgia, the FBI said. In metro Atlanta, authorities said they arrested 106 fugitives, including in the counties of Henry, Fulton and DeKalb.

Of those arrested, the FBI said 28 people were charged in homicides, and 60 were charged with assault. Eight men are facing charges related to crimes against children, the FBI said.

Additionally, authorities said 24 people are facing drug-related charges while five others are faced with fraud charges. Other charges included murder, burglary, sexual assault and robbery, the FBI said.
