2 GA Officers Shot, Injured In Line Of Duty: Report

Gov. Brian Kemp and U.S. Rep. Austin Scott asked for prayers after two Georgia officers were injured while executing a search warrant.

TIFTON, GA — Two Georgia officers are in stable condition after being injured in a shooting while conducting a search warrant Friday, according to a media report.

The suspect, who initially barricaded himself in a Lee Avenue home, was taken into custody after the standoff, Tifton officials said, per a Tifton Gazette report.

The Tift County Sheriff's Office said the suspect was arrested without further injury.

The suspect was not identified, and any possible pending charges were not immediately known.

Both Gov. Brian Kemp and U.S. Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., requested prayers for the officers.

"Please join Marty, the girls, and me in prayer for the two Tifton officers wounded this morning in the line of duty," Gov. Brian Kemp tweeted Friday afternoon. "These brave officers, their families, and the entire Tifton Police Department will remain in our thoughts and prayers as they face the road ahead."
