GA Airport Ranks Below Best In Nation: See Where Your Local Airport Lands

J.D. Power's 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study draws on feedback from more than 30,000 U.S. or Canadian travelers.

ATLANTA, GA — As travelers take to the skies this Thanksgiving weekend, a recent survey from consumer data firm J.D. Power ranked passenger satisfaction at mega, large, and medium North American airports, including one in Georgia.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ranked 14th among 20 mega airports in North America, J.D. Power found. The airport received an overall score of 590 out of a possible 1,000 points, falling short of the average score of 603.

The "mega" category includes airports that see 33 million or more passengers per year.

Hartsfield-Jackson, which is Delta Air Lines’ largest hub, processed more than 108 million passengers in 2024, according to a report published by Airports Council International World. It's also consistently been named the world's most efficient airport.

A frequent recipient of awards, Hartsfield-Jackson has been recognized for its leadership in concessions, operations, sustainability, architectural engineering and construction, according to the airport's website.

J.D. Power's 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study draws on feedback from more than 30,000 U.S. or Canadian travelers between July 2024 and July 2025.

The rankings are based on flyer satisfaction scores across seven broad categories, including ease of travel through the airport, level of trust, terminal facilities, airport staff, food and retail, and departure and arrival experience.

According to J.D. Power, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Minnesota is the best mega airport in North America, followed by Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Michigan and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona.

The following are the top three airports in the remaining categories:

Large

  1. John Wayne Airport, Orange County, California
  2. Tampa International Airport, Florida
  3. Dallas Love Field, Texas

Medium

  1. Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana
  2. Ontario International Airport, Canada
  3. Buffalo Niagara International Airport, New York

Airports ranked as the worst, according to overall customer satisfaction, were Newark Liberty International Airport (mega), Philadelphia International Airport (large) and Edmonton International Airport in Canada (medium.)
